Horticulturists

Horticulturists are needed for our fast growing company.  We have several positions available in the garden center division of our company.  Sylvan Nursery is in need of a

• Tree & Shrub Department Head
• Perennial Department Head
• Buyer of non-plant inventory (hardgoods)
• Marketing and Advertising Assistant
• Garden Center Assistant Manager
• Department Head of Annuals. 

Ideal candidates must have plant identification and problem diagnostic skills, design talent, computer and multi-line phone knowledge, sales and cash register experience. 

Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends during peak season with rotating weekends during the slower times.  Employees may be asked to work additional hours over 40 during peak season.

Prefer candidates who are detail oriented with strong organizational skills and relevant job experience.  Other responsibilities include establishing performance goals, allocation of resources and providing leadership support to achieve quality service and financial targets.   If you are enthusiastic and have a passion for gardening and landscaping that will inspire co-workers and clients, we want you to apply.

Garden Center Sales Positions 

Part-time seasonal with opportunity for full-time year-around work.  If you enjoy helping people, love being around plants and enjoy working outdoors then this job is for you.  Sales or customer service experience along with cashier and computer knowledge are desirable.  Weekends are required in April, May and June.

Landscape, Lawn Maintenance & Irrigation Crew Workers

7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Monday through Friday.   Job duties are installation of high-end landscapes which includes plantings, irrigation, walks and patios, retaining walls, laying sod and much more.  Wages are negotiable and depend on experience.  Dependable, hardworkers will be rewarded. 

Landscape Foreman

Supervise crew members in the process and implementation of starting and completing landscape projects in a timely manner.  We are looking for career minded individuals that can lead crewmen in the installation of high-end landscapes which includes plantings, irrigation, walks and patios, retaining walls, laying sod and much more.  We are looking for individuals who have at least 2 years of related experience in the field or recent graduates from a landscape/horticulture program.   Individuals must be willing to work side by side with their crewmen.   The people we are looking for need to be able to take a landscape or irrigation design, start and complete the project with minimal supervision from the landscape designers on staff.   Time management skills, the ability to give directions and work with others as a team are essential.  Ideal candidates will have a proven track record installing landscapes, strong communication skills, high attention to detail, a strong work ethic and a "Can Do" attitude.  Successful candidates must have a good driving record and be willing to obtain a Montana Driver's License. 

Lawn Maintenance Foreman

Supervise and work with crew members in the maintenance of landscapes to include mowing, fertilizing, trimming, weeding and repairing irrigation systems. Assistance and supervision will also be required in a wide variety of grounds-related tasks throughout the year including snow removal. We are looking for career minded individuals who desire opportunities for growth and advancement.  We are looking for individuals who have at least 2 years of related experience in the field and are willing to work side by side with their crewmen. Individuals must be results-oriented, self -motivated and a creative problem solver with good organizational and communication skills. Position requires working in all weather conditions - extreme heat and cold, high winds, rain and snow. Candidates must have a good driving record and be willing to obtain a Montana Driver's License.
