If you're tired of the same old run-of-the-mill annuals and want to try something a little special in your garden, consider planting some Proven Winners. These plants are not only beautiful, profuse bloomers, but they're dependable, too, having been tested in trial gardens throughout the country.

Always in demand, the Supertunia varieties have won high praise from gardeners and are one annual that's become a "perennial" favorite. Another favorite, Tapien Super Verbena, an herbaceous perennial, is a compact grower that looks spectacular cascading from hanging baskets or blanketing the ground as a densely flowered groundcover. More winter hardy than most verbenas, it is a fast grower that blooms all season long in shades of blue, pink, or lavender.

One of the new flower varieties being introduced this year is the Million Bells petunia, part of a brand-new genus, Calibricoa. Breathtaking in beds or containers, Million Bells blossoms from spring through late fall and has "millions" of small bell-shaped flowers. Available in blue and two shades of pink, this plant has been extremely popular in Europe.
